Hopkins Village

Back in 2010, my mother took my younger brother and I on a trip of a lifetime to a small coastal village in Belize. This was our first look at how people live in third world countries. I am so grateful that at such a young age our eyes were opened up to how people in other countries live. The people of Hopkins live a simple life. They are weary of all the tourists visiting their village but are some of the most friendly people I have ever met.

The village centre has one main road will all of the local shops and restaurants. Visiting this small village was the first time I got the urge to travel the world. I wanted to live life and see what else was out there. Over the past seven years I’ve gone on many wonderful vacations and trips to new and exciting countries. Hopkins will always have a special place in my heart. This village and its people opened my eyes up to the rest of the world. And for that I am forever grateful.

Third world living is something special. I wouldn’t give it up for anything. No matter where I go in the world I have to return to my bad roads and the careless driving and the street shops and the fresh cane breeze… Its a special thing man.
